Personal Testimony

Please allow me to introduce my ministry and myself.  As a result of the faithful witness of my brother, I received Christ as my Savior in September 1974 as a 19-year-old young man.  I was called to preach within three months of my salvation.  Having grown up in a Catholic family, I knew nothing about Baptist churches but the Lord led me to get baptized and join a Fundamental Baptist Church within four months of my salvation.  I attended their Bible Institute for one year and then attended Hyles-Anderson College from January 1976 to August 1981.  I received a Bachelor degree in Pastoral Theology and a Masters degree in Educational Administration.  I also met and married my wife while in college.

Between 1982 and 1996 I was a pastor of two different churches: one in Iron Mountain, MI for four years, and another in Bremer, IA for seven years.  I also was a school administrator for two years in Lansing, MI between 1987 and 1988.  In 1996 I took a trip to Nigeria because I had heard it was a good idea for pastors to take at least one mission’s trip.  Little did I know how that trip would change my life.  It was during that trip that God gave me a vision for this ministry.

In 1996 I resigned my church, sold my house and used that money to start my overseas trips as a Missionary-Evangelist going to different countries working with missionaries or national pastors in starting churches, holding revivals, expanding church ministries, and doing the work of an evangelist.  I also presented my work to churches here in the States.  Since 2000 I have also been preaching mission conferences in the United States trying to raise my own support as well as the support of other missionaries.  My goal has been to increase my monthly support so I can increase the number of trips I take each year.  You will find the results of my trips on the trips taken tab.  I ask you to please read the recommendations given herein.  I also covet your prayers as I try to help missionaries reach their areas for Christ.  Contact me if you feel I could be a help to your mission’s program.

Recommendations

Dear Brother James:

We can hardly express our appreciation to you for the great things God has done to our church.  Our place was shaken.  Revival has come to our church.  Salvation became a reality to many.   Our dreams are coming true.
What a great God we serve.  Thank you for giving to us your precious time, effort, and even your own money in order that we can have revival and precious souls saved in our area.  Our hearts are crying out with joy.  Words of thanksgiving are not enough to express our gratitude to you.  God is just awesome, wonderful, and amazing.  We are looking forward to the next time you can come again to this other side of the globe and minister to us once more.
My family and the entire church express our sincere “Thank you.”

Dear Brother,

Jim Belisle has done what I expected him to do.  He has been tremendously used of God in missionary excursions to the regions beyond.  Hundreds upon hundreds of people have been saved, missionaries have been encouraged and God has gotten the glory.

We are so glad that we can have a part in his support and I want to encourage you to use him.  You will find him to be a good preacher and, by the way, and excellent soloist, that you can use in your services.  If your song leader is gone, he is also a good song leader.

Jim Belisle is a happy, blessed man of God with an excellent family that’s worthy of your support.  I sure hope you’ll consider to at least giving him a chance to share what God has done through him.

Dear Brother,

I am heartily recommending to you my good friend and co-laborer, Missionary-Evangelist Jim Belisle.  Brother Belisle is a man of God, and I know he will be a blessing to you and your people.  If it would be possible, you could have him for a missions conference, a family conference, or to teach soul winning in your church.

Brother Jim Belisle has traveled three times with me to the former USSR.  He is a fervent preacher of God’s Word and has a tremendously big heart for souls.  This man loves the Lord and his sole desire is to see Christians edified and lost souls won to Jesus.  I promise you that he would be a great blessing to you and your church.  I do not believe I have ever seen a more intense and dedicated preacher of the Gospel than Jim Belisle.  In our three trips to the former USSR, I have watched him pour his heart out to the dear people.  He preaches with a broken heart and with the power of God.  I believe Brother Belisle would be a great blessing during a missions conference.

God has called Brother Belisle to be a missionary evangelist.  He needs support in this area of the Lord’s work.  He knows that God wants him to go to mission fields to help pastors build a work.  Brother Belisle has a very fine and dedicated family.  He is not only a great Christian, a great preacher of the Bible, a tremendous soul winner, but also a good family man.  He would be an asset to the ministries of those who support him.

Dear Pastor,

It is my privilege to recommend heartily the ministry of James Belisle.  We had Bro. Belisle as the key speaker for our first Missions Conference.  Bro. Belisle did a tremendous job in helping our people to understand the Bible way of “Faith Promise Missions”.  As a result of the Conference we have tripled our giving for the year 2001.  Bro. Belisle has the ability to explain Faith Promise Missions, and the ability to encourage people in their personal giving.  Bro. Belisle will approach any Conference with the desire to encourage the Pastor, and to encourage the people.

It is my conviction that the Lord has called and equipped Bro. Belisle to minister to local churches across the globe in the area of Biblical Missions.  Please prayerfully consider having Bro. James Belisle minister to you, and your local church.

My Dear Brother,

May I heartily recommend my long time friend, Bro. Jim Belisle.  I recently had him at our church for a mission conference and what a tremendous time we had in the Lord!  Bro. Jim’s preaching was strong and powerful but from a heart of deep compassion.

The three goals for our conference were:
(1) that God would help us reach our financial goals for the upcoming year in missions, (2) that the Lord would expand our folks’ vision for missions (have a heart for missions as well as financial contributions) and (3) that Christ would speak to our people about what they could do personally for missions.  The Lord met and exceeded our expectations.

Missionary-Evangelist work is a greatly needed ministry.  What missionary on the foreign field would not be blessed and encouraged by an evangelist who comes to his field for a while and co-labors with him in soul winning, church planting and helping train his people?  We take for granted that we at home have evangelists available for revivals and special meetings but most missionaries do not have that privilege.  Bro. Jim’s ministry fulfills that need.  He is exciting and he is an encourager.  Bro. Belisle must raise his support as any missionary.  May I encourage you to consider supporting him, have him present his work, or use him for a mission conference.  I assure you that you will not be disappointed.  I have known Bro. Jim for 20 years and as others have dipped their sails or steered in other directions, he has stayed by the stuff, kept the faith and continued soulwinning.

Thank you for your time and please, Bro. Belisle’s heart is on the mission fields not having to raise support so any consideration that you would give him, I would deeply appreciate.

Dear Pastor,

It has been my privilege to have known and observed the lives of Brother and Mrs. Belisle for nearly twenty-five years.  If I were looking for a visual definition of consistency and dependability, I could easily point to this fine couple.  They have “stayed by the stuff” and continue to this day.

We at Fundamental Baptist Missions International are very pleased to have Brother Belisle represent us as he travels for the cause of foreign missions.  I certainly can commend him highly to you.  He will encourage your church for missions.  I hope you will consider having him in your church and Christian School.

Please feel free to call me if you have any questions.  I will be happy to help you.

Dear Pastor,

I am so pleased to write this letter to you recommending the person and ministry of Brother James Belisle.  We have known Brother Belisle since our days together in the “dorms” at Hyles-Anderson College over 25 years ago.  I have observed him in the bus ministry, the classroom, our “home away from home,” and in the ministry for these past 25 years.  I feel comfortable in our association with Brother Belisle.

I am privileged to see the children who have been trained by Brother and Mrs. Belisle.  Three of the four children are or have been students at Hyles-Anderson College.  Two of those children also serve on our college staff.  We think highly here of the entire Belisle family.

I am so happy about having Brother Belisle represent us in churches and Christian schools.  I hope you are able to have him.  I am confident he will help and strengthen what you are trying to do – especially in the area of foreign missions.  Thank you for your interest.  I trust FBMI will also be a blessing and help to your church.
